Despair to Progress in 12 hours
Day 1 of My 100-Day Pivot
In case you missed it, I decided to give myself 100 days to do a midlife pivot after my failed start-up attempt in Thailand. I started on March 23, 2022. Check out my recaps from along the way — The Ugly Truth
Day 1 — March 23, 2022
At 5 am, I captured my first video…I announced my epic failure to the world… or at least that is how it felt when I was recording.
Once I stopped freaking out — I started journaling, and I decided my priority HAD to be to generate some revenue.

I brainstormed a list of my quickest potentials based on my skillset.
• Get writing contract work
• Get marketing contract work
• Teach English classes
• Build a side hustle with affiliate marketing
• Get a remote marketing job
It consists mainly of contract work — a little concerning as I need a stable income to help hubby feel better. Based on my previous experience, I knew I could get the contract work moving quickly as a gap fill until I go through the recruitment process for something more permanent.

The burning question remained, will there be remote jobs for me?
I jumped on google and searched “digital nomad jobs.”
It looked like there were some digital marketing jobs I could apply for, but then reality set in:
I’ve not applied for a job in more than 25 years.
I would need to:
· Brush up on the latest resume/CV formats … if that is even what they called anymore
· Build a couple of resumes that specifically target the type of positions I’m seeking
My mind started wrestling. Where do I start? Do I look for posting or build the skill-targeted resumes first?
Then it hit me; I’ve overlooked a major contributing factor to my possible success.
Both options would require me to demonstrate my marketing or writing skills successfully.

If you recall — I quit my last job four years ago when I moved to Thailand to launch the start-up — so I have NOTHING current for someone to search and see my skills…not even personal social media pages, as I’m old fashioned about sharing my personal life.
That gave me something to think about, and by afternoon, I hatched a plan — I’ll document my 100-day pivot on social media to demonstrate my skills and ability.
For many, this might sound crazy, but in the $20K mentoring program I purchased from Russell Brunson at Click Funnels last year — he swears you can build a social media presents from 0 once you find your voice.

Russell says the key to finding your voice is:
- to frequently post (regardless of how bad it is when you start)
- keep doing it until you get better and people start paying attention.
He suggests you commit to a year. See, that $20K I invested is really paying off!
Plus, Russell recommends you start with the media you use — so I decided I would start a blog on Medium.com and a YouTube channel to highlight my most vital two skills — writing and marketing.
I committed to writing three articles per week on Medium and doing a minimum of 3 vlogs on my Youtube channel — My Midlife Pivot.
With all joking aside, I was super grateful that I did the “mentor” program, as it went deep into starting on these two platforms — and included a bonus video of Ben Hardy explaining his successful Medium.com process.
Looking back, I see something was preparing me for this new chapter.
I headed over to Medium.com and set up an account; pretty straightforward.
Then I started writing the first draft of The Ugly Truth.
It was a productive day, from despair to progress in only 12 hours.
